Growing up in a traditional Portuguese home, my memories are vividly filled with the experience of cooking alongside my mother. She possessed a remarkable talent for transforming ingredients into dishes that were absolutely delicious, all accomplished without the aid of a recipe; everything flowed instinctively through her skilled hands. A simple pinch of this and a sprinkle of that, combined with generous amounts of the finest Portuguese olive oil poured from the iconic big golden tin adorned with the image of an old Portuguese fisherman, were the hallmarks of her culinary artistry. (Our label is a heartfelt homage to that treasured memory, showcasing our Mario, a Portuguese Water Dog, who represents the fisherman, proudly donning the authentic wool cap worn by those who toil at sea.) With plenty of fresh garlic and an array of fragrant herbs, she would effortlessly prepare dinner from scratch each evening, delighting us all, and even accommodating those delightful late-night impromptu dinner parties with ease and grace.
